Your valid visa or residence permit is about to expire and you would like to extend your stay in France?

Valid hosting agreement :

The application to renew your "passeport talent chercheur" residence permit must be submitted online via the official Administration Étrangers en France (ANEF) website, 2 and 4 months before your residence permit expires.

1. Put together your file with the following list of documents.
2. Take an appointment at the SAIEC if you wish to be accompanied in submitting your application
3. After checking your file, you will be accompanied to submit your application online on ANEF.

If your hosting agreement has expired :

You are a PhD student registered in France for the current year and have not yet presented your thesis:

You can apply for a renewal of your "passeport talent chercheur" residence permit, which will remain valid until you have presented your thesis. 
You must apply to renew your residence permit or VISA between 2 and 4 months before it expires, following the steps below.

1. Put together your file with the following list of documents.
2. Take an appointment at the SAIEC if you wish to be accompanied in submitting your application
3. After checking your file, you will be accompanied to submit your application online on ANEF.

You are not/no longer enrolled in a PhD program and your work contract has ended:

You can obtain a residence permit extension based on your accumulated unemployment benefits (Pôle Emploi).

The duration of your residence permit is therefore based on the length of your indemnity (allocations retour à l'emploi).

2. Take an appointment at the SAIEC if you wish to be accompanied in submitting your application
3. After checking your file, you will be accompanied to submit your application online on ANEF.

You are no longer enrolled in a PhD program and you had a scholarship:

You can apply for a residence permit (titre de séjour recherche d'emploi et création d'entreprise (RECE) or Autorisation Provisoire de Séjour (APS)).

You are completing your studies and wish to stay in France.

To be eligible for a RECE or APS residence permit, you must be the holder of a " professional degree " or a degree equivalent to a Master's degree. 
This permit allows you to stay in France for one year in order to find a job or set up a business related to your studies and/or research.

This card authorizes you to carry out any professional activity for the duration of its validity, without having to apply for a work permit.

PLEASE NOTE: Depending on your nationality, you can apply for either an "Autorisation Provisoire de Séjour" (APS) or a "Recherche d'emploi et création d'entreprise" residency card (RECE):

APS: only for nationals of these countries: Senegal, Gabon, Benin, Tunisia, Mauritius, Cape Verde, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Lebanon, India.

RECE: all other nationalities.

Obtaining conditions:

• Be a foreign student (except Algerian students) holding a residency card with the mention "Etudiant" or a "Passeport talent chercheur" residency card.
• Have obtained (or will soon obtain) a diploma at least equivalent to a Master's degree or appearing on the list established by decree, in a French higher education establishment.

RECE or APS applications:

1. Create your file with the list of documents.
2. Make an appointment at the SAIEC if you want to be assisted in submitting your application.
3. After checking your file, you will be assisted in submitting your application on the Démarches Simplifiées website.
4. Submission of the file by appointment at the Préfecture before the expiration of your residency permit or within the year following the obtention of your diploma.

At the expiration of the Job Search residency permit:

You can request a change of status to obtain a researcher "Passeport talent" or work "Salarié/Travailleur temporaire" residency permit depending on your situation. Please note, you will no longer be able to apply for a student "Etudiant" residency permit.

If you find a job and obtain a work authorization "Autorisation de travail", you can submit your application in the 2 months before the expiration of your residency card on the Démarches Simplifiées website. There is no need to wait for the end of validity of your current residency permit to apply.

Changes of address or marital status, duplicate (lost/stolent) OR new passport

If you have lost your residence permit, or if your address is no longer valid, it expires :

• In less than 3 month: you must notify ANEF of the change/loss when you submit your application to renew your residence permit.
• In more than 3 months: you should request a modification of your residence permit by following the steps below:

3. After checking your file, you will be accompanied to submit your application online on ANEF.
